The Roots of Life

Imagine a tree, towering above the shrubbery, providing shade for all things below it. A stoutly behemoth that uses its innate wisdom to cultivate various forms of life.

Abundance and prosperity surround this timeless epicenter, undoubtedly caused by the fruit naturally produced through energy gathered from thousands of leaves and nutrients absorbed by a complex underground network. Whether that fruit is taken by another creature as sustenance or left to decompose their life is returned to the earth in a symbiotic dance of life.

What allows the tree to bear its fruit?

Well that is quite simple, it’s the life sustained by its roots. Of course there are leaves that gather energy and limbs that extend them out, there is even a sturdy trunk that holds the weight of all the limbs, leaves and fruit.

For most trees though none of this would be possible without an anchored base to build upon that provides a consistent supply of nourishment. By all means do not get me wrong the tree requires every part to function in order to produce a delicious treat that allows them to propagate.

Recognizing the parallels of life.

A common trend in life is that most organisms are comprised of individual organs working collaboratively. Whether they are as simple as the parts of a tree or you break it down to the microorganisms that function within our plasma and allow us to assimilate nutrients.

That simple perspective can be applied to most things large or small of course maybe they don’t all tie in to a tree as neatly but that is the fun when trying to reduce the complex down to it’s simple components. What seems to be overlooked, is that human beings may be complex organisms, but we are still just part of a super organism that sustains our very existence.

Calm down this is not just some tree hugging hippie telling you take care of planet earth, the truth is I am much more interested in taking a holistic approach for the world I borrow from my children. I consider the current state of our beautiful blue spaceship and the chaos of its inhabitants merely symptoms.

Getting to the Root

People have to rely heavily on resources owned by companies that are so effectively designed for profit that malignant AI has been created and gone unnoticed. Mega corporations skilfully  crafted to operate with callous efficiency, a supercode of a sort that was intended to run upon the human operating system.

A distinction made about our current era in history is that people are enabled to connect on an unprecedented level of speed and range. On the opposite side of that coin comes the concept that we now feel more isolated than ever recorded.

Would the problems of this world be perceived as insurmountable if we were able to rely on the cooperation of our co-inhabitants to resolve them?

It seems like a childish question to ask, most people can admit that there is nothing that can’t be accomplished by some diligent people working towards a common goal. Well I am willing to ask about the elephant in the room, why don’t we all just start working together?

Tin foil hats aside.

The answer can be reached very simply, when the limb is severed from the tree the leaves are the first to die. We are slowly disconnecting from the very organism that supports our growth. There is a greater human consciousness at work within this world, one that our ancestors revered and their oppressors feared.

The sleeping giant that will change the world, is not just the american public or even the millennials but the good people of this world. We all do the best we can with our own resources and knowledge but know that we can only accomplish so much alone. Neighbors around the world are inviting each other over for dinner and entrepreneurs are lending their expertise to their communities.

These are just common gestures of a community, that are normally limited to smaller regions due to lack of proper organization or communication. In times past we could say it was too hard for people work effectively across larger distances, if not just because the delay in communication. The current capabilities in communication would say that excuse seems pretty flimsy.

Growing the roots.

With all of the developments in technology one could say the human tree has been moved from its staging pot to a big open forest. The root system was too crowded in it’s previous environment but now it has room to grow. People are enabled to connect in incredibly remarkable ways, distance is truly becoming an illusion and cooperation is becoming even more common.

With more than 7,000,000,000 people on this planet for you to think that you are alone means your not paying attention. we can accomplish so many great things as soon as we start seeing the similarities in people not the differences.

A great way to change your perceptions of others is by spending more time with them. The more often you find yourself amongst people with common interest, the easier it becomes for you to accept their differences and then eventually you will respect the opinions of others.

To paraphrase a popular song, “What better place than here, what better time than now?”

So let’s rebuild our communities in the way we see fit, for our own lives not the ones we have been told we have to live. It’s time we start building our communities so that we can see a positive change even the tiniest of ripples can creates waves.

I will leave you with one last question before I end this. if you were empowered through a network of supportive people, what would you like to accomplish to improve the general quality of life for others?

As always you are worth MORE THAN GOLD.

THANK YOU and I LOVE YOU

Resilience – The Fabric of Success

Resilience

The Fabric of Success

What makes a bouncy ball so fun?

It bounces back.

What about those ridiculous clowns you punch in the face?

They bounce back too!

Now these are great physical representations of a human characteristic that is admired and occasionally envied.

What I am talking about is resilience the subject of my entry for tonight.

There’s a common opinion I hear, something along the lines of it being easier for young people to bounce back from adversity.

To be fair I am still relatively young to some so my opinion is just that, but from how I see it age should have no difference on your ability to rebound.

Let me elaborate, if you are young it should be easy because you have an abundance of energy and even perhaps a slight ignorance. For the old your resilience only changes it’s source of origin in your case you have the experience of knowing that you have encountered things of this nature before. While hopefully the maturity to know that failure is not in making mistakes but more about letting those mistakes rob you of your peace and self love.

As far as success goes I will not pretend to be the end all resource on what success is, only because that is defined individually just as your sense of morality. Though my humble opinion is of one that believes success is not measured in dollars, material goods, friends,  awards, societal contributions or even objectives achieved. My thoughts on success are that of simplicity, do you enjoy your current position in life? Can you sleep easy at night knowing that you are doing your best at living a life true to your values?

If you can wholeheartedly answer yes to both of those questions then you are in my book incredibly successful.

When I look at my life I can definitely say that there are some things I would like to change. Does that mean I don’t enjoy my current position in life?  Not at all, it simply means that I am still growing just like most others.

How does that make sense? Honestly it may not always make sense, but through my own experience I have found in life you really only have two options, you can either enjoy the present moment or not. Of course there are some off the wall events you could ask along the lines of physical torture or other radical occurrences, to those questions I can only say stop trying to make things more difficult than they actually are. The word enjoy here is just another word for acceptance and appreciation for you as a person that way you can love yourself enough to know you don’t have to be perfect and there is no “destination” you have to arrive at.

As for the second question about living true to my values? I do my best to live a life of personal accountability, meaning, that I constantly question my own thoughts and feelings about my actions. If there is anything that I do which truly contradicts what I believe then I investigate my motives and adjust my actions accordingly.  Most people do this all the time so I don’t particularly see this as a unique skill only one that I actively develop. You see the funny thing about our values is that they are evolving right along us, so our opinion on certain ideas or concepts is subject to change as our life does so frequently.

What does this have to do with resilience?

Great question! If you can learn to enjoy your present moment and admit that you are doing your best to uphold your personal values then those are the key components to self love and forgiveness. Those two ingredients are at the very core of resilience, as I said before it’s not about never making mistakes, it’s more about bouncing back after you do. When you love yourself and can forgive your own humanity then a mistake is just that a mis-take, so take another shot until you get the picture you want.

Let’s recap, success is defined in many ways but the best way to find your own success is through resilience.  The foundation of resilience is self love and forgiveness. Self love and forgiveness are centered around allowing yourself to be human and make mistakes.

I’ll wrap this all up with a final question for you to ponder.

If success has varying definitions and resilience is about giving yourself the right to make mistakes, then is your definition of success preventing you from seeing the success that you already are?

Thanks for tuning in and as always you are worth MORE THAN GOLD.

Manifesting – A Mindful Practice

Manifesting

A Mindful Practice

Manifesting, what does this mean?

According to Merriam-Webster it is defined as “readily perceived by the senses and especially by the sense of sight”

Honestly speaking when I hear the word manifest I think of a genie, you know the kind that live in old lamps, a mental image of items materializing in front of me seems to be my direct interpretation. Which of course is not exactly as we see described above

When I think about it a little deeper I realized that I had been confusing manifesting with wishing for magic. Now some people might have already had a clear definition of this word but something tells me I am not the only person to fall victim of this misinterpretation.

So what does it really mean to manifest your true intentions?

Well it is clear that it does not mean making the things you want in your life just magically appear.

My interpretation of this expression is that, to manifest your true intentions means fine tuning your mind to be hypersensitive to people, places and things that resonate harmoniously with the great essence that dwells within you.

What? Yeah I know hold on, Let me adjust my vernacular.

Manifesting your true intentions is like calibrating your mind and body so that they can notice all the things around you that make you feel at peace thus allowing you to act upon things that uplift your spirit.

I think that makes more sense…….I hope.

Why do people keep talking about it?

First off it just sounds so damn catchy right?

People are prone to repeat things that have a certain ring to them. Then there is the whole wishing for magic things that could be causing some of this as well.

Other than bogus “spiritual” leaders or new age philosophers having something new to sell you in their next book what is the importance of this practice?

It seems clear to me that becoming attuned to the things that help elevate your spirit is like magnetizing your life to naturally attract things that help you grow with appreciation.

When we look at the world at large we can say there is a growing percentage of people who are becoming more disconnected from their higher power, inner being or self. If I were to assert my observation on this situation then I would say it seems that quite a few people are in careers, fields of study, relationships, and locations that do not agree with what they truly want for their life.

Perhaps the collective consciousness is pushing towards practices that will put us back in touch with our true self and how to change the course of this ill fated journey known as the human experience.

Sounds like a bunch of psychobabble

Fair enough, but if you have gotten this far into the blog entry then it is safe to say you would like to have a little bit more  of the things that make your soul feel at ease in your life.

I consider it equivalent to exercise or reading, except you don’t need anything other than a little bit of time and the desire to live a life that brings out your true potential. Personally I don’t see anything negative in wanting to consciously improve your life so that it reflects your inner most desires.

How does one manifest?

There are quite a few people out there that will sell you workshops or one on one training in this practice. By all means if you are interest in paying someone else to help you remember how to tap into your innate prosperity then that is your decision. Of course you might as well be purchasing your own flatulence in a jar because manifesting is something you do naturally.

The truth of the matter is we are all expert manifesters sometimes so good we end up getting buried under negativity and mindless garbage.

Policing  Your Thoughts

Don’t worry this can easily be changed it simply requires you practice a habit I like to call “policing your thoughts” this doesn’t mean imposing your negative emotions from being picked on in high school on your thoughts. What it means is actively watching your thoughts and feelings to make sure that you are not focusing on the negative aspects of your life or projecting your fears into your foreseeable future.

Along with “policing your thoughts” you must learn to get in touch with things that resonate with your true essence. This is actually a lot easier than you would think because your body and mind are giving you cues as to what reflects your true intent. The real problem is you don’t know that you are missing these cues because they have been inadequately labeled your personal interests on average.

Mindful Practice

So steal a couple minutes from your day ask yourself questions such as “What do I want from life? How do i feel about my current situation? What are things I enjoy most about my existence?” Keep an eye out for negative thought processes such as doubt or unfounded skepticism. When you find yourself in that moment of extreme bliss stop for a second try to observe what you are doing so you can try to recreate it or foster a life that cultivates that feeling.

Thanks for tuning in and as always you are worth MORE THAN GOLD

Grateful – Acknowledging My Blessings

grateful

Acknowledging my blessings

Gratitude is a very common theme for my posts whether it be a quote or 1000 word entry.

Over the last few months I have noticed that I receive so much love and support it makes me feel like one of the most fortunate people on the planet.

On average it seems that I get the support of at least 40 good friends and family, honestly speaking some of them I haven’t had a direct conversation with in years. When I see the names of the people from my past that still care about me, regardless of my poor communication with them, it really illustrates the fact that I am incredibly fortunate.

So to make sure I practice what I preach I want to tell the people who do take the time to read these long-winded entries how much I appreciate their support.

Outwardly it appears that all of my endeavors in life just happen casually without any fear or hesitancy, well that is quite far from the truth. The only reason I am able to keep my cool and roll with the punches in life is because I am constantly showered with love and confidence.

A recent concept has really struck home with me lately, you are a sum of characteristics of the people around you. Well with this digital day and age it is safe to say “around” you is a little ambiguous. Though I do know the effects of people on the other side of the world sharing their thoughts and feelings with a complete stranger such as myself, have just as much of an impact on me as sitting down with a good friend in person.

There are a few times I have been told how much people love hearing about what’s going on in my life and it really surprises me every time. Even I get caught up in the game of ego telling myself where I should be in life right now instead of just acknowledging my current situation with appreciation. So when I hear this it reminds of how much I am loved, which in turn makes it much easier for me to focus on the positive.

Probably one of my favorite things about having so much support is that it becomes much easier to look at potential challenges as opportunities instead of risks. The moment I see someone overcoming adversity in their life, I instantly gain perspective on mine. Because as I see you going through ups and downs like me, then it becomes easier to respect myself the way I respect you.

One of the hardest things a person can do is describe their character or identify their values. As I look around at the people who I interact with the most, whether in the digital or physical sense, it begins to fall in place. I am successful, kind, inspiring, talented, hard-working, friendly, generous and fortunate but these traits are not mine to possess, they are inherited through the company I keep and merely cultivated by my actions.

This is me saying thanks to all the people who take the time to read this because of you I am successful, kind, inspiring, talented, hard-working, friendly, generous and fortunate which means I have some amazing people in my life. To me you are all worth More Than Gold.

THANK YOU and I LOVE YOU.
